This year the Colmena Fund started its grantmaking journey by launching the call for proposals Strengthening Support for Women Political Leaders in the 2024 Super Election Year. This limited call for proposals supports organisations experienced in working directly with women political leaders in context in which there has been gains though electoral processes in 2024.
On the sidelines of the AWID Forum in Bangkok, Colmena convened its inaugural cohort of learning grantees to: (1) Strengthen a sense of community as a cohort with the formation of an informal community of peers that fosters collaboration, coordination, and communication, and (2) Develop innovative ideas and actionable recommendations for our collective learning process as we define the ways in which we engage and collaborate with each other, as well as gather ideas and recommendations on how to measure and communicate our learning and progress.
The collective power of this cohort reflects vast proximate experiences from Afrodescendent, LGBTQI+, and youth communities, those working at intersections of technology and gender equality, and organizations delivering technical assistance to women political leaders in the Global South.
